jesus, i am due to get surgery in 3 weeks and now i'm shitting myself, i beleive however things have improved some what, with the flap now being laser cut as opposed to by hand, also i am due to get 'wavefront' treatment which apparently spares much of the tissues.

J Refract Surg. 2005 Sep-Oct;21(5):433-45.CONCLUSIONS: The human comeal stroma typically heals after LASIK in a limited and incomplete fashion; this results in a weak, central and paracentral hypocellular primitive stromal scar that averages 2.4% as strong as normal comeal stroma. Only 2.4% of the original corneal strength. Consider the fact that you will need your corneas for the rest of your life if you want to see. Is refractive surgery worth what it does to the eye?

Man I am really sorry about that. Your complications could have been avoided. DLK can be treated and usually causes few problems unless its allowed to linger without treatment. You need a surgeon that has done 300 and does so on a regular basis. Also many do not allow the cornea the stabilize after contact lens discontinuation. Most of the problems are cutting corners.

This doctor is trying to help the patient recover some vision, by removing the damaged lasik flap.

This is a flap amputation after lasik gone bad.

That's because this is a flap amputation after lasik gone bad.

Yes, night vision problems because my pupils in the dark are larger than the area lasered; irregular corneas that are so bumpy that only hard contacts can correct the distortions; dry eyes. I had DLK after lasik, and it ate a lot of my cornea.

No, when I look at the moon, I can see 19 of them layered all over each other. |
