Forget Wigan, Blackpool & Manchester. The East Midlands is the home of Northern Soul thanks to Carl & Andy!! KTF. :o)

Ok..floor has to be a proper dance floor..polished wood and even better if its sprung..but there were a few floors that were over sprung nd if it was full those in the middle would get bounced by the hundreds on the edge!!! leather soles worked best..later on polyvelts came out...looked shit but were lighter and didn't get clogged by talcum powder and sweat..how to dance...you have to be there to know that one. We're the ones that proved white boys can dance!!!

This is the coolest dancing I have seen and I thought English men couldn't dance till I saw this. it's great. i don't know anything about Northern Soul but the tunes are great and the dancing looks so good. Does the floor need to be a certain surface or do you have to have a certain type of shoe to be able to do those spins. I have been looking at some clips and I love that move on the one leg with th eother one going back and forward. I want to learn!!!

The actual point of Northern dancing is to convert the body into a sort-of tuning fork in order to recieve high-frequency information from higher realms. The Ancient Celts used to do this - hence the rigidity of the arm and leg movements in all that Riverdance stuff. I'm sure the similarity in the words "Celt" and "kilt" is not lost on you. Northern dancing is the result of the collective ancestral memory of it's participants.

Nah, talcum powder has always been with us.
The Hyperboreans were not quite what we'd recognise as human. For a start: They had higher waste bands. |
