It's a shame that Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann are even mentioned in the same breath as Edward R. Murrow.

The late CBS president William Paley once called Murrow "a resolute and uncompromising man of truth". This piece of radio history is but a small example of why. We shall never see or hear the likes of Murrow again.

I wish I knew. I want to be a reporter when I'm older, but I assure you I will look to men like Murrow for inspiration. Hopefully, we can get a little of that back someday. I will do my best.

It's strange that no one can recreate this type of journalist today. They were all typically war correspondents.

Whatever happened to guys like this?
someotherguyyouknow (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I wish this guy was alive and working today. Modern journalism is essentially prostitution.

Sounded strangely cold, but still powerful. "If I have offended you by this rather mild account of Buchenwald, I am not in the least sorry." |
