It is not just that Simon has lived in Germany before, in fact he lived there for over 20 years. In addition, how could this production, regarded as the best available on video, attain that status if a basic element like diction was poor?

Totally aside from my other comments on the the race-related argument...WOW this is really good. What a marvelous voice this man has. This excerpt is up there with with George London, Hans Hotter, etc....

I might add that when Aida is done by white sopranos, it is usually with dark makeup on. And I will FURTHER add, that if I were singing Porgy or Amonasro and someone remarked that I didn't look Ethiopian...because I'm a white guy...I would in no way be offended and I would find it very strange if someone were offended on my behalf. I'd probably be amused.

Ebonysoprano, I didn't see this comment, so I can't know if it was actually offensive, but I also would guess that you are [insert "black" here if "negro" offends] by your screen name. And it appears that the majority of your subscriptions are to black artists'/figures' channels. And furthermore, you got REALLY mad about the original comment that Estes doesn't look German, which implies you took it personally. I must therefore conclude that you are a black person. Am I too an asshole?

Why do you say the German is bad? Are you from Germany? I think his diction and pronunciation are amazing. (I happen to know that Simon Estes is fluent in German and has lived in Germany before.)
