now if a religious nut gets a hold of nuclear weapons, this might come to pass i agree.
but scientific progress wont be our downfall, how can it be, if it's progress it's positive.
we can make it negative if we add stupid shit to it, like religion, voting for corrupt morons like bush etc.
but that's not the progress's fault, it's our own unenlightened selves being lazy and not wanting to be apart of making our world a better place.

scientific progress is the foundation that allows us to help people in other places of the world when it comes to helping them grow food, irrigation, farm planning etc.
