we get alot of players in the UK really slating the valve trombone. particularly brass band players. I p[lay slide, varying between semi and full time pro, for my money, Brookmeyers sound is one of the coolest things in jazz. The only criteria upon which one can judge is on what comes out the end of the horn!!!, and thats a prety cool sound to my ears!!!

Where the freak did you get this! It's another walk down memory lane for me as this was in my dad's album collection and never collected dust. I hear very little deviation from the original recording so I wonder if this was the same one, the original. I can't imagine they'd play all the same improv licks in concert?!?! Amazing solos by both instrumentalists. I agree that this is jazz history in front of our eyes.
