Ebola burns to fast to be a major threat, its kills the host to fast for it to spread since its only spread by contact with infected bodily fluids, but if it mutated and became airborne then all hell would break lose.

Theres actually 5 strains, a new strain was discovered in Nov 2007.
Zaire, Sudan, Ivory Coast(Tai), Reston, and Bundibugyo.

Wrong. A number of CDC workers were found to have antibodies to the Reston strain after decontamination of the complex. If they had contracted the Zaire strain, they would have almost certainly died.

Actually Ebola Reston may be transmitted by air. If you read the Hot Zone *SPOILER* the monkey care takers were infected with Reston though they didn't suffer any cuts. That strain did not affect them, but if a mutation occurred... A lot of people tell me that Ebola kills too quickly which is true, but one simple change in the virus could kill up to 90% of people. Unlikely, but possible. |
