That all said, i am an atheist. I have no fear of eternal penalties for anything i do wrong while i'm alive. Nevertheless, i'm a pacifist. I do not look down upon people of different races, religions, or sexual orientations. I volunteer in my community. And WHY??? Because i don't need god to know i have a moral responsibility to the world around me. We live in a community that needs to survive. And let's be frank...you don't need god to tell you that helping people is just RIGHT.

And if atheism leads to "death and destruction," doesn't that automatically say that the ONLY thing holding religious people from committing atrocities is their religion?" Isn't it really saying, "If there was no god, i'd wanna fuck this fag, kike, nigger, cripple, bum up. But i don't wanna burn in hell, so i better not." If you're saying atheism causes "death and destruction," you're saying people have NO moral compass of their own, and only a fear of hell will stop them from harming others.

And atheism has NEVER led to any "death and destruction." And if you're going to mention Hitler and Stalin, that's not a true assessment. Hitler was an on-again off-again Christian as it suited his needs. Stalin was definitely an atheist. HOWEVER, it wasn't atheism that had anything to do with their actions. Atheism just means a lack of belief in a deity. Hitler and Stalin committed their atrocities because of their own selfish beliefs about the world, and to their own personal glory.

But hey, this is America, right? It's no longer the land of freedom. It's the land of "ME, ME, MEEEEE!!!!!" Oh, and by the way, putting god on our currency didn't happen until well over 100 years after the country was founded, and didn't become standard until almost 150 years after. And god in the Pledge of Allegiance was not written there. It was added many years later by an "act of congress" in 1954. Don't you love how the government legislates religion?

Just out of curiosity...are there any people watching this video who are devout Christians, yet still believe in the TOTAL separation of church and state? It seems to me that if you're a Christian, and the government leans toward Jesus too, then you support and rationalize it. Isn't that a bit selfish? It's kind of saying, "i'll say anything to support that which represents my own personal interests." I bet Christians would not be defending theocracy if that theocracy were Muslim or Hindu.

"Some scientists believe in God purely through reason, and if there can be a God, it should also be possible to pray to Him." Enlighten me. Who are these scientists? And what exactly is the reasoning that has led them to believe in God?
RayZR (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
"God and prayers are not specifically tied to religions, so they do not violate the constitutional law on religious neutrality." So are you saying that you ask favor of a general, faceless God whose achievements and wishes remain indistinct and undefined? I never though I'd find anything more pitiful than a follower of organized religion, but I suppose I was wrong.
RayZR (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You don't need empirical evidence that 1+1=2 because that concept has been drilled into your mind from childhood. Going from not needing physical evidence that two single objects make up two objects to an invisible man in the sky that no one can prove is there who has the power to create something from nothing is a bit of a gap in logic. By your logic, we technically don't need evidence for, well, anything.
RayZR (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Indeed. Atheism has caused so much death and destruction. For example, 9/11 was definitely an attempt for atheists to impose their lack of belief on theists. The Crusades were also due to a general hatred of atheists towards Muslims.. ... ... OH WAIT.
